Botswana
ranks among the best places to see wildlife in the world.
Maun is the gateway for tourism in the Okavango delta.
Since thousands of visitors come here every year, often
giving handouts to children, many children have become
beggars. They quit school and lose opportunities to better
themselves through education.
Bana ba Letsatsi gives these children the life skills they
need to return to school. Children learn arts and crafts,
gardening, and sports. They go on excursions into the
national parks, an opportunity they might never have
otherwise. Visitors are encouraged to share whatever skills
they possess. Whether these are skills of home-making,
craftsmanship or high-tech, they give the children goals
and direction. Working on art projects is also wonderful
because it instills the children with pride. To be a role
model, nothing is required beyond the desire to share your
time.
Heart4Africa
Safaris is committed to helping Bana ba Letsatsi by
donating a portion of all profits. In the short-term, we
provide art supplies and other needed equipment. For our
long-term goal, funds are being set aside for a computer
lab that will also serve as an internet cafe, providing
students with work experience, and the center with an
income. All donations are managed by an independent,
non-profit overseer in the USA.
